Cast iron platforms require machining allowances during the casting process. The machining allowance refers to the thickness of the metal layer that needs to be removed from the rough casting during machining.Machining allowances can be further divided into process allowances and total allowances. The thickness of the metal layer that needs to be removed in a specific process is called the process allowance. The total allowance, which is the sum of the allowances for all processes from the rough casting to the finished product,is called the total allowance. The purpose of leaving a machining allowance on a cast iron platform is to remove machining errors and surface defects left by the previous process, such as the cold-hardened layer, pores, sand inclusions, decarburized layer, surface cracks on the casting, the oxide layer on the forging surface, the internal stress layer, and surface roughness left after machining, thereby improving the accuracy of the cast iron platform.
When using a cast iron platform,it needs to be installed and debugged. The specific operations are as follows:
The working surface of the cast iron platform should be cleaned and checked for any issues before use.During use, care should be taken to avoid excessive impact between the workpiece and the working surface of the T-slot platform to prevent damage to the working surface of the cast iron platform.
The weight of the workpiece should not exceed the rated load of the marking platform, otherwise,it will reduce the quality of the work and may damage the structure of the T-slot platform.
Therefore, before use,we must have professional personnel to install and debug the cast iron platform.Non-professional installation and debugging of the cast iron platform is a violation of regulations and must not be adopted.
Working on a cast iron platform that has not been installed and debugged and passed inspection is meaningless.Non-professional installation and debugging of the cast iron platform is a violation of regulations and may damage the structure of the cast iron platform, even causing deformation, making it unusable.
Cast iron platforms are usually made of gray cast iron or ductile iron.Gray iron, known as inoculated iron,is widely used in the casting industry due to its low cost, excellent mechanical properties, and casting performance. To obtain qualified castings using gray cast iron,it is necessary to go through many processes such as sand grinding, molding, melting, pouring, cleaning, and inspection. To ensure the quality of the castings, every process in the casting process must be controlled. When casting and melting gray cast iron parts, the quality of the materials entering the furnace and the ladle must be strictly controlled, and their composition, size, and physical and chemical properties must be checked and inspected as required.Inoculated iron is a type of gray cast iron with flake graphite, but its manufacturing principle is different from ordinary cast iron, with an additional inoculation process. An appropriate amount of inoculant is added to the iron water with low carbon and silicon content to inhibit excessive graphitization.Generally, the carbon content of the raw iron water is between 2.8 and 3.0%.Because inoculated iron has a lower carbon content,a sufficient amount of scrap steel is often added to the furnace charge. The silicon content is between 0.9 and 1.5%to increase the amount of inoculant added and improve the mechanical properties of the casting. When the sulfur and manganese content are in the range of 0.08 to 0.12%and 0.9 to 1.2%,respectively,if the manganese content is too high, cementite will appear in the cast iron. The phosphorus content should be less than 0.12%.If the phosphorus content is high,it will affect the strength of the casting.
